Delilah stumbled into the grounds, she was running, not from someone... but from something. She wasn't sure what it was, but it was HUGE! And it had a long tail and whiskers and big hooves that had claws and pointed teeth. It was surely much faster than she. She kept running until she looked forward, she was watching behind her for the creature, when her head hit something hard and narrow. She fell to the ground with a squeal and shook her head. She looked back and there it was, closing in at 100 yards. She scrambled to her hooves and hid under the massive stallion she had run into.

Dusk I looked down to see a small filly at my feet. I was about to ask her her name, but then I saw it. A mountian lion. I stepped away from the filly, then reared right in its path. My hoves hit the ground hard, scaring the ceature away. Once it was out of sight, I turned to the filly.
"Hello little one" I said in a friendly tone. "Are you ok?"
I looked down at her, she was a beautiful filly.

Deli, as her mother used to call her, had tears in her eyes. For her mother was no more. Deli looked at the stallion and shook her head. She twisted her neck, showing 4 long, deep cuts in her neck, each fitting the size of the cougar's claw sizes, and a muddy paw print where it struck her neck. She was in pain, not because of the cougar's blow, but because of her mother's death.

I looked at the scratches in dismay.
I nuzzled her. "What is your name?" I smiled. "And where is your mother?"
I was hoping the answer would be she had just lost her mother. Not anything worse.

Deli nearly bursted into more tears as he spoke of her mother. De... Dead. she said, her voice shuddered with sobs. She pressed up against his front legs, seeking comfort and safety.

I put my head down as she leaned on my legs.
Exactaly what I was hoping hadnt happened.
I nuzzled her again. "Would you like to come with me? I have a lead mare, she is very kind. You can live with us if you would like.." I was a softy when it came to fillys/colts losing their parents.

Deli looked at the large stallion and nodded softly. She stood up and waited for him to lead.
